From the moment I arrived, the warmth & welcoming spirit of The Forsyth was evident. Help with parking and luggage as well as a lovely glass of wine were offered. Other guests were gathered at the dining table adding to the familial atmosphere. Waking up to the aromas of ample and delicious breakfasts each day was pretty special!! Will definitely return!!

27th November 2018:

This place is a treasure. The rooms are tasteful and comfortable, and Tamara is an incredibly gracious host. My wife and I are vegan, and Tamara accommodated our diet with a three course breakfast that included vegan scones, a baked apple with walnuts and cinnamon, and a tofu scramble with a variety of fresh vegetables. My wife and I were simply blown away by the service, and will certainly stay there again the next time we visit Kingston.

Tips:

The B&B is located in the Roundout section of Kingston, and there are a number of shops, restaurants and bars within walking distance, along with the Roundout Creek waterfront, which I'm told is quite lively during the warmer months. Additionally, it is only about a 10 minute car ride to the Uptown section of Kingston, where there are more shops and restaurants in a more dense environment. Easy to get to and easy to find parking everywhere.

Cozy, well appointed room (loved the explorer theme and was delighted that a book on the room’s namesake was in the room for us to peruse.) Delicious breakfast, friendly host. Clean, quiet and comfy, more like an inn with its large dining room and common area. Highly recommend the Forsyth.

Tips:

Whether it’s in the Rondout section (where the Forsyth is located) or uptown in the Stockade neighborhood, Kingston has lots of old charm, and lots of history. And it’s right in the middle of the Hudson Valley with its beautiful sites and myriad possibilities for outdoor adventure. Great area to get away from it all in all seasons

We had the best time! The early 1800’s inn is impeccably decorated in mid century modern and dotted with a few period pieces. Their original art collection is beautiful and fascinating. All pottery is hand thrown by the owners brother. We were so impressed with our (included) three course breakfast that next year we are making reservations for dinner too. I would highly recommend The Forsyth B&B.

Better than a place away from home ! We loved staying there ... we felt at home and awoke to a 3 course gourmet breakfast every day !! We are missing those special meals ..the best part of the stay are the people and of course meeting the curious Joe . Joe is kind of the mascot , a very entertaining and memorable little dog . I can go on and on , but I won’t . We had a great stay and would recommend this bed and breakfast , if you are looking for a familial and welcoming experience ! Don’t hesitate and enjoy the company and delectable morning surprise ...

Gracious and accommodating hosts, AMAZING breakfast, and convivial breakfast companions. Comfortable rooms with renovated bathrooms, interesting architectural details, lots of great books and art. A feast for the senses, indeed!

Tips:

We ate at Ruby Mae’s, which had incredible side dishes: a crusty, cheesy mac ‘n cheese and possibly the best grits this southerner has ever had! Armadillo, next door to the inn, was also excellent (and I used to live in Texas).

This was my first time at a BnB and we also came with our 2 year old, so you can imagine the stress of that. Tamara and everyone was so friendly and welcoming to our son and extremely patient and accommodating to our needs. We had the best 4 days of breakfast that I've ever had, 5 star food each morning, I'm still tasting and wanting that donut/puff and the French toast...to die for. I'm a UX designer with a love for all things designs, so I really liked what I've seen labelled bohemian modern in terms of the space layout. The Forsyth was great but it really begins with the owner/innkeeper Tamara. Amazing, super friendly ,great chef but foremost great human being!

Rudy, the manager, and Tamara the owner could not have been easier to work with as we planned for a place to stay for our 92 year old mom and her side of the clan for our son's wedding in Kingston. I can highly recommend booking the whole house: it is amazingly comfortable with 4 bedrooms and a downstairs suite, and a short walk to the Broadway/Rondout Strand where a great series of restaurants and sites to see. Tamara is a fantastic host and the house is interesting, well appointed and our gang of 10 (ages 6-92) plus lots of visitors (all jealous they were not with us) felt at home. A dream weekend.

The whole experience couldn't have been any better from the time we arrived until check out. The house was amazing! Each room had it's own vibe. We stayed in the James, and during breakfast the owner sat with us and told us the story of how our room got it's name. The breakfast was amazing by the way; fresh blueberry scones, fresh fruit, and the best frittata I've ever had. Highly recommend this place to anyone traveling to Kingston. It's also walking distance to the waterfront restaurants and shops!

Tips:

We ate at Mariners Harbor and I'd recommend there and Ship to Shore. Also if you're feeling adventures A Day Away Kayaks is just down the creek. Great way to see the waterfall.

Hospitality with a huge A+ and CLEAN too! The Forsyth is decorated with such a comfortable, stylish (think Domino Magazine) relaxed atmosphere, so inviting to just sit and read a book in the living room. The breakfast surpasses any breakfast we have ever had at a B&B (my husband and I have stayed in a bunch of inns along our travel ways). The innkeeper was a former pastry chef, so her lovely talents are reflected in eat delicious morsel she presents at breakfast time. It's worth it to stay there just for this meal. The location is great.... it is in the heart of the Rondout area of Kingston. We will definitely be back for our next comfy stay!

Tips:

Definitely try Savona, fun, delicious Italian food, about a 5 to 10 minute walk from the Forsyth on Broadway. There Rice Balls are amazing!! Plus, the staff is great. Also on Broadway are some really hip shops (a bit pricey though) but fun anyway. Dinner at Boiston's in the Uptown area of the city is a must. There are a lot of coffee shops to sit at and have a sweet in the afternoon. We ate lunch at Duo, a French bistro. It was delicious. We had cold damp weather so we stopped in at Stone Soup for a quick lunch, which was yummy, though the decorations are very sad looking here and a bit dusty. There is a lot of history in the Kingston, so it is great to take advantage stepping back in time and learning what went on way back when.

19th August 2017:

Great food, cool decor. Lovely hostess.

Tips:

We liked both the nearby Italian restaurant (Savona?) and the Mexican one right next door. While there we went to the Roosevelt complexes in Hyde Park, the Walkway Across the Hudson, and at Tamara's suggestion took the river cruise.

13th August 2017:

One of the best B&B's we have stayed at in the US. EXCELLENT rooms, beds, linens, baths. Immaculately clean, well appointed common areas and fantastic 3 course breakfast featuring local produce and ingredients. War friendly owner knows what hospitality really means and she delivers! Great location for exploring the central Hudson Valley. Highly recommend this B&B.

Tips:

Hyde Park Roosevelt Home and Presidential Library, Rhineback shops, the Beekman Tavern @ Rhinebeck Inn.

5th July 2017:

This was a last minute trip and it looked the best of rooms that were available on the 4th of July week. Everything about this place: exceeded my expectation. It is beautifully appointed and so comfortable. The owner, Tamara has an exceptional eye for detail and is a natural at making each guest feel welcome. We are already planning our return.

Tips:

The location is quiet, but close to restaurants and local shopping. Even though the food served at the Forsyth is AMAZING!!! , there are other option for your other meals nearby. The breakfast we had was so good.
